Media Alert – TEDxEvansStreet POSTPONED TO DECEMBER 2018 WITH LOCATION CHANGE TO SiMT

WHAT: TEDxEvansStreet, back for its second event,announce it has postponed its date from Thursday, Oct. 4, to Thursday, Dec.6. In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The Florence event is called TEDxEvansStreet, where x = independently organized TED event. TEDxEvansStreet is an independent TEDx event operated under license issued by TED and is open to the public.
WHEN: Thursday,Dec. 6, 2018, 10 AM to 4 PM (NewDate)
WHERE: SiMT Building, 1951 Pisgah Road, Florence,SC, on the campus of Florence-Darlington Technical College (New Location)
WHY: TEDxEvansStreet, back for its second event,announce it has postponed its date and changed location due to Hurricane Florence and its aftermath.
“We were all very thankful Hurricane Florence did not hit thePee Dee area as predicted, but the aftermath brought unpredictable devastation that effected participants in this year’s event both personally and professionally. The decision was made to postpone the event to allow these issues to be a focal point. Not only do we want to make sure this year’s event is impactful, we want to be mindful of our thought leaders’ and attendees’ well-being,” said Tonita Perry,licensee/lead organizer of TEDxEvansStreet.
Location changed is due to the Florence Little Theatre’s performance schedule not being able to accommodate the event.
TEDxEvansStreet will feature exciting speakers, who will be announced in weeks to come, from a range of fields, happening in two sessions with connection and refreshments breaks in between. Attendee check-in will begin at 8 AM, with the program starting promptly at 10 AM and ending at 4 PM, post event reception immediately following. Continental breakfast, lunch, coffee/snack stations, program, and a name badge are included in the ticket price. The cost of the event ticket is $40.
