TEDxEvansStreet MAKES APPEAL FOR SPEAKERS AND PERFORMERS FOR 2018 EVENT
(Florence, S.C., Apr. 16, 2018) – – TEDxEvansStreet makes appeal for the returning second year event in Florence, S.C., joining Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach in hosting a TEDx event in the state of South Carolina.
In the spirit of “ideas worth spreading,” TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The Florence, S.C. event is called TEDxEvansStreet, where x = independently organized TED event. At TEDxEvansStreet, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. TEDxEvansStreet is an independent TEDx event operated under license issued by TED and is open to the public.
The 2018 event theme is CHANGE AGENTS. According to Greek Philosopher Heraclitus, the one constant in life is change. Change as he believed it to be was the sheer acceptance that opposition forces are essential for living life. It is the clinging to what is known and considered to be safe that is the downfall of life, which is not growth. One cannot help but think there is nothing new in this great world, one or something can only make or become different, thus giving us change. The thought then goes to be an active principle that serves as a guiding intelligence that achieves a result or producing an effect. On what? That what can be as inventive and innovative as possible if mankind is represented to the fullest with maximum result to live an essential life. A change agent makes a difference in the status quo. They authenticate differences through problem solving, while creating new paradigms or models that will further advance who we are. It takes practice, examination, and ethical behavior.
Potential speakers and performers are charged with speaking or performing 6-8 minutes. Those selected will have to participate in a speaker and performer training in preparation for the event. Anyone interested in participating can visit the website, www.tedxevansstreet.org, and complete the application for consideration. The application process will close on May 17, 2018.
Speakers and performers talk may reach a vast audience on the web. In addition to being posted on TEDxEvansStreet website and YouTube channel, TED selects some TEDx talks to be released online and most are viewed by at least 100,000 people, and some by several million. Indeed, in aggregate, TED Talks have been viewed more than 100 million times worldwide. This exposure has transformed the careers of many TEDx presenters and performers, either by introducing them to larger audiences or recasting them as a thought leader.
