TEDxEvansStreet 2023 - POLARITY
TEDxEvansStreet is an all-day independently organized TED event dedicated to spreading ideas by blending innovation, insight, and storytelling. The experience collectively ignites the Florence community’s commitment to lifelong learning and spark positive change.
The 2023 event theme is “Polarity.” The Oxford Dictionary defines polarity as being “the state of having two opposite or contradictory tendencies, opinions, or aspects.” Things that appear as opposites are in fact only two extremes of the same thing. As one of the 7 Universal Laws, the Law of Polarity decrees everything in the universe has two sides. In fact, only two extremes of the same thing are simply varying degrees of the same thing. One steps into power through perception—to see both sides of a person, situation or circumstance. Negative or positive, hot or cold, love or hate, polarity is determined by how one chooses to think – choices, not situations or circumstances, will create the desired outcome. What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxEvansStreet, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxEvansStreet event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. TEDxEvansStreet 2023 Venue
We are proud to announce the TEDxEvansStreet 2023 event will be held at the Waters Building – Florence County Museum, 135 South Dargan Street in historic downtown Florence, S.C. The event date is Thurday, April 27, 2023. Mark your calendars.
Owned by former Florence, S.C. Mayor Washington M. Waters, this three-story historic building was built in 1914 and housed a furniture store, funeral parlor, and dentistry practice. It is listed on the National Register as part of Florence Downtown Historic District.
We are excited to be able to continue to make history with the thought provoking ideas that will be shared on the renown red carpet contributing to society’s history-making fabric.
